ossification is the formation of a bone from cartilage, e.g a new born baby growing into an adult undergoes a process called ossification because at that stage the bone of a baby is very soft (cartilage) then it hardens to form a bone while calcification is the formation of a cartilagenous bone which normally occurs in invertebrates animal e.g the anthropod, to form an exoskeleton.
