I’m starting to “date” friends. I ask them what are their intentions in a friendship and if they’re capable of holding space for another person right now. Since I’m autistic I take everything literally. And when someone is nice I think they want to be friends. I’m making sure to ask if someone wants a genuine connection or if they’re just passing the time. I don’t care if ppl think it’s weird. It saves me the heartbreak

I firmly believe that “romance” isn’t just for sexual relationships. I remember my bestfriend’s flowers or the date a different friend’s dad died. I hear songs and think of them. I’ll set up little dates to cheer them up, catering to their likes and interests. That’s all romantic af but it’s all platonic.

This! One of my former best friends ended our friendship on my birthday in December and it hurt so bad. It was even worse because we had two other people in our group and I knew how it would go and they would stop hanging out with me as well even though they said they wouldn’t. I just want one best friend who goes to the extents I do in my friendship.
