@monicaefrasier: You ever process the day once your kids are in bed and regret how you handled things?..cuz same. I apologize to my kids in real time, but I still feel so bad. Compared to 6 months ago I’m getting better at regulating my emotions but every now and then I yell or snap at my toddler and I feel horrible about it. Being a mom is hard, there’s no rule book or manual on how to do this, but there’s always tomorrow to try and be a better mom 🧡 #motherhood #eveningroutine #momlife #toddlermom #sahm

We are learning how to parent in real time just like our kids are learning how to be tiny humans in real time. It’s not always perfect. Sometimes our emotions aren’t regulated and things happen! You’re not alone in feeling like that. But I’m sure the fun memories you are making FAR outweigh the yelling and your kiddos won’t remember that part.

I yelled at my almost 11 month old today because he ran over my toes with his walker because I was overstimulated because he is teething and has been so whiney and clingy all day long. He didn’t know any better he was just scooting along in the kitchen having the time of his life and I felt so bad for getting angry with him because how did he know he was gonna run over my toes 🥺

After I yell (because it happens to all of us) I say “I’m sorry mommy yelled, I was just frustrated”. I feel like that has helped. My kids understand that everyone has big emotions, even mommy.

When you sat down and talked about sometimes just snapping…. I literally felt that so hard. Some days I’m perfectly ok and sometimes I cannot deal with it. I feel so bad 🥺

You are NOT a bad mom!! Teaching emotional regulation while still trying to learn it yourself is HARD! I’ll be 40 in Aug with a 3.5yo boy and I struggle soooo much some days with him. The one thing I do try to do is when I lose my cool on him I stop, calm down, then I apologize and tell him that I will try to do better just like I ask him to do. We are human and the biggest thing is teaching them that it’s ok to mess up but we acknowledge it and work on getting better every day!

You are not alone, I have had these same feeling. The post bedtime mom guilt is real. It’s hard to regulate your emotions all day every single day.

I relate to this so much, there are so many days when I feel like I overreacted or yelled too much and I will genuinely cry when they go to bed 🥺

Thank you for normalizing these feelings. 🥰 I saw a TikTok today that said “I want my kid to know that I’m a first-generation gentle parent & I’m trying my best because my first instinct is to knock you into next week.” 😅 We trying to unlearn bad habits from our own families and the pop culture of our childhood and learn how to better parent in real time. IT IS FREAKING HARD.

Same girl- for me- it’s allowing him to be independent (the “I do it”) but also wanting to just do it for him cuz it take 5 years longer (more like 5 secs and I know that) but then he cries and then I get frustrated and then we both cry.

You are so not alone. 3 has been challenging for us as well! & I have the same feelings and thoughts after I snap too. Makes me feel so bad because I don’t want to be that mom. But I try telling myself, it’s going to benefit us when they’re 12, being tough now.
