I tried doing this w my ex bsf and spent two and a half months annotating every single page and she was supposed to do the same. When it was time to exchange she said she lost it and then ended up admitting she was to busy to do it. We remained friends for three more years and once in a while I would ask if she even read the book and she never did :( I’ll have to do it again in the future w a better friend

guys is it normal to dislike opening a book and finding annotations 😭 everybody in this comment agrees that it’s a nice thing to do, but i’m scared someone won’t find it to be nice if i do this for them

Random but I sat across from this really timid and quiet boy in my creative writing class. I would talk to him from time to time and he didn’t really have anybody that sat with him so I would sit with him a lot, and I would also talk about my favorite book on earth, briefly gorgeous by Ocean Wong with him, and for some reason, he reminded me so much of the main character. Just based off the conversations we would have so I gave him my one and only copy that I annotated and carried so deeply in my heart, and after a couple days, he returned it and told me that this book changed my life and I still think about that.

I was thinking about doing this for my girlfriend. She has this book that she told me understands her and if I want to understand her better than reading it would be more sufficient than telling me. She told me about her but I want to read the book and annotate it for her. To show her that I care. I’m just not sure on where to start I’ve never annotated a book.

Is it just me but I don’t like to do this😭 I like to preserve the book as it is, it feels weird to write on a book, I almost feel like I’m ruining it. But I do think annotations are pretty and nice.

I love annotating my books! I just don’t tab them, I highlight and use pens. I also have a page in the back of the book where I write the chapter and iconic moments in them. Not all chapters but the ones I would want to turn back to
