Y'all, 1. ) This is not buñuelos to everyone. This isn't even what I think of when I hear the word. 2.) Elephant ears have been a thing. It is a fried dough. He wanted some and didn't have the dough so he used a flour tortilla. 3.) This is going to be a surprise to you but things are called different things in different places in different languages by different peoples.
