Unlikely that they would have chainmail over layered plates. Plate was much cheaper and much faster to make. Mail was expensive and took a very long time. Very cool recreation though

Interesting about the Roman army, idk what time period but if a soldier broke any equipment it would be deducted from their pay and sometimes it would take away their whole yearly pay😭
