I downloaded TikTok in 2019 just to tell a quick story, because I love to tell stories and there was a trend I didn’t want to miss out on. It got probably 15 likes or something and I didn’t care because it was fun to make the video; I laughed making it. And that was the point. I had just moved to New York City and I wanted to be an actor more than anything; I had wanted it since I was 8. But just a few months after I got here covid happened and my life derailed, and my dream disappeared. So I started acting on the internet for myself, with this brand new TikTok account, because I couldn’t do it anywhere else, because I had to do it somewhere. And somewhere down the line, suddenly people began to jump on board with me, and they slowly began to make up a new kind of audience, an audience I never dreamed of having and barely knew what to do with. I remember waking up to find myself at 10k four years ago and seeing the “k” and not being able to understand what that really meant, how big it was. I never lost that feeling. Today I’m feeling it the strongest I’ve felt in years. TikTok has given me my life as I know it. Adventures unlike anything I could have imagined, so many precious people, so many precious moments. My best friends, the love of my life. TikTok made me understand I was trans. TikTok has let me speak to hundreds or thousands, now a million people about things that are important, even when I struggle to articulate them, and it’s taught me how to do that better. TikTok spoon fed me my self confidence back after the blow it took in 2020 and I owe the person I am now to what has happened here on the internet these last four years, on this beloved beloved account. Thanks for following me. Thanks for healing me. Until the day I die I will be grateful that this happened to me. . . . #foryou #fyp #aot #snk #AttackOnTitan #arcane #atla #demonslayer #jjk #sarajamss #teehee
