My definition of « I made it » might be a little bit different from most people but not so different for some. In this suicidal prevention month, I wanted to share a little bit of my story. Between 2020-2023 I was dealing with severe ptsd, depression and anxiety. All of this lead to have a lot of suicidal thoughts. I struggled to see anything positive things in this life. I just wanted to stop suffering. I was also mad that I wasn’t able to easily get out of that phase because of my profession and all the knowledge I have about mental health… I was supposed to know what to do right? But no. Taking a shower was the hardest chore ever, eating was happening only to « survive », I stopped all my hobbies and isolated myself. Until I decided I had enough. With the help and support of my support system, I asked for help. Had therapy session, started medication, started educating myself more on trauma and all the effects on the brain to understand what was happening to me, FORCED myself to go out and start what I used to like (dancing, going out, cooking etc)… and most importantly m, I chose myself and my happiness every single day. I started my solo traveler journey and I never been the same since then. This journey was full of ups and downs but what I learned is that the downs always come back. The goal is not to never have them but to have better tools to face them and accept and the ugly parts of your life. Because no, life is not always pink and that’s ok. If you’re in a similar situation rn, please take one day at a time, do what feels good FOR YOU, there’s no rush, celebrate every little win (like taking a shower !), and I promise… it’s temporary 🙏🏻 You got this ❤️‍🩹 #suicidepreventionmonth #MentalHealth #ptsd #HealingJourney #wellness
