@theartcoach: Tap the link in my bio to start the drawing drills course. This drawing starts from something almost too simple. A circle with a wedge cut out of it. Basically a Pac-Man shape. Then the exercise becomes: Rotate it. Tilt it. Change the perspective. Repeat it. Before long, those simple forms start becoming lily pads floating across the water. That’s one of the most important drawing skills you can develop: Taking something simple and modifying it into something more specific. Iteration is where improvement happens. You draw the basic shape. You understand it. Then you push it into something new. The more comfortable you become transforming simple forms, the easier drawing from imagination becomes because you stop needing every subject explained from scratch.
