According to his family, Kyler had bipolar disorder and was having a manic episode. In a state of confusion and distress, he ran through the airport, made his way onto the tarmac, and ultimately climbed into the engine of a commercial aircraft, where he did not survive. His story is heartbreaking, but it's also an important reminder that mental illness is every bit as real as physical illness.
