What I have done several times is milk some milk from the cow into a bottle. Then let him drink from the bottle and when he starts sucking good pull the bottle and then put the cows teat in its mouth and they usually then suck on the cow. Just might have to keep putting the teat back in until they get a hang of latching back on when it slips out.
