The thing is that hares aren't that different from rabbits. They're still prey, they just evolved to be able to run away faster. Which somehow makes the comparison even sadder.

It has nothing to do with it, but this reminded me of a dumb poem I wrote about a friend and how jealous I was of them. My metaphor was that they was the cute, beloved rabbit, while I was the hare, similar, but more terrifying or gross (the hares are beautiful, but that's wasn't the point)

for me as an SA survivor i see myself as both a wolf and a puppy, the puppy is cute, small, fragile and naive, and the wolf is cautious, waiting to see if it's actually safe, and potentially aggressive if you do the wrong thing. most people see me as the puppy, even though there's a lot of calculating behind my eyes, checking on who's actually safe to trust.
