here in Finland (maybe in Nordics) you never comment weight. In any situation. Weight loss can be stress, mourning, depression, cancer etc. Never comment. Also saying "you look great" means you didn't look great before which is not a compliment. If someones weight is a health concern then maybe close family members or friends might ask what going on and try to help.

have lived in Europe my whole life. weight gain and loss are complicated here. last year i lost 25kg. half of people complimented me. said that i look better, asked how i felt. other half was scared, asked i ate anything. told me i was too thin... fun fact - i now eat more than when i gained all that weight 😁

I studied in Spain for Erasmus for 6 months and it literally made me become so confident and comfortable with my body. I’m a bit fuller but I had no problems at all to wear tops and shorts etc. I didn’t feel judged at all. Miss it daily

Idk i have born and lived in Spain all my live and people just tell me the same as u say on the US, like “oh asi delgadita te ves mucho mejor, guarda el tipito/omg u look much better this skinny, keep it up” and I’m just struggling with an ed so it’s not really good…even my grandma(like most abuela here are know for making A BUNCH of food and telling j to eat more, but not mine at all)like at least on my highschool, family, and known persons just tell me “share diet” like damn what I’m doing its not healthy at all, but I’m happy thats not your expirience, ur preciosa either way
