@offenceregister: LUCI NICHOLLS ERDINGTON CAUSING SERIOUS PHYSICAL HARM TO A BABY In 2025, LUCI NICHOLLS of ERDINGTON was sentenced to an 18-month suspended jail term for inflicting serious physical harm on her newborn baby. This case follows a referral to police and social services after health officials grew concerned over Nicholls' total lack of engagement and failure to register her five-week-old baby with a GP. A medical examination at Birmingham Children's Hospital uncovered catastrophic, non-accidental injuries, including broken ribs caused by chest squeezing and bleeding on the brain consistent with forceful shaking. Experts established that the abuse had been inflicted over multiple time periods. Nicholls, who was 19 years old at the time of the offences, initially engineered an implausible cover-up and shifted the blame onto her ex-partner, causing the baby's father to face a dropped criminal probe before she finally accepted sole responsibility. Now 23, Nicholls wept in the dock and escaped an immediate custodial sentence at Birmingham Crown Court after the judiciary cited her personal flaws, mental health diagnoses, and extreme immaturity.
