It took 20 years of it for me to see it for exactly for it was. We didn’t really have the ‘language’ for it back then. The damage is so slight, chip by chip, day by day, that it takes time to realize a whole chunk of you is missing. It’s tough to recover from but once you do, it creates a strength and resilience like you’ve never known. 💙

Emotional abuse is horrible to experience because it really messes with your reality and is often not seen as a huge deal. Being able to spot it while it's happening is indeed rare.
