Not everyone can handle this 🤷🏻‍♀️ Moving abroad is a dream for so many, but it’s not for everyone. If you can’t come to terms with these things maybe just… stay home? ⏰ Time works differently abroad. Whether it be the bureaucratic systems not getting your paperwork fast enough, or culturally having no sense of urgency, if you can’t learn to be patient this will be frustrating 🦎 be like a camaleón and adapt to your surroundings, they aren’t supposed to adapt to you. Understand that you’re moving somewhere that’s different (and that’s a good thing!) otherwise you’ll be very upset with things not being “like home” seriously, DON’T BE THAT PERSON 🥘 speaking of different, you might not find all your favorite foods. It’s sad sometimes when you just want your comfort food, but you can’t expect to find the same types of food/ingredients everywhere 🚃 maybe you moved from an accessible city to the country, or maybe busses just don’t have a schedule. Get used to it and make sure you have reliable transportation or you could feel stuck 📲 you will be away from family and friends so much that even your weekly calls start to dwindle. Plans to visit never happen because people have lives. It hurts, but something you need to be prepared for 🗣️ if you’re moving to a new country, it’s best that you *try* to learn the language. No one is asking for fluency, but you can’t move to France and be mad no one is speaking English 🙃 🗺️ you forget you’re an immigrant, not an expat. You can’t villainize a group of people wanting a better life when you move for the same reasons and try and justify it. It’s OKAY and I’m a proud immigrant, but the hypocrisy is too much sometimes. I’m sure I missed some! What are the move abroad faux pas you see people make?
