A country's electoral system is not something outsiders have the right to question. A nation and its institutions evolve naturally through its long history. Please do not judge China by Western standards. Our histories, cultures, and experiences of wars, conflicts and foreign aggression are all distinct, which have shaped different ideologies and systems. Deputies to China's National People's Congress are outstanding figures elected by local people. They are far from ordinary random individuals. These deputies are talented people who have made remarkable contributions to society. They are elected to bolster local development and uphold the interests of the people. This stands in sharp contrast to the democratic model of Western countries. In the West, outside forces often meddle in elections and push forward people who lack political literacy, education and independent judgment. Such people disrupt democratic order. They care nothing for the country and its people, only seeking gains for certain groups or themselves, and become a bane to social stability and development.
