So why is it happening 🤔
Superheated Steam: Microwaves heat food by exciting water molecules, causing them to vibrate and generate heat rapidly. The water inside the egg yolk and white heats up incredibly fast, turning into steam.
The Pressure Cooker Effect: The eggshell acts as a sealed pressure vessel. Because the steam has nowhere to escape, pressure builds up rapidly inside the shell.
The Yolk Membrane: Even if you crack the shell slightly, the yolk is encased in a thin membrane. This membrane traps superheated water pockets.
Delayed Explosion: Often, the egg survives the microwave but exists in a highly unstable, superheated state. The moment you pierce it with a fork, peel it, or even move the bowl, the sudden release of pressure causes a violent, instantaneous explosion, spraying boiling-hot egg and water everywhere
