Well, we have these mandatory attendance laws, so administrators are less likely to send children home for any reason. Something needs to change!

For many years, I have experienced events that conveyed that mental illness is largely unrecognized and " in denial" in terms of children's behaviors,etc. For too long, children have been seen as be ing bold or naughty, rather than acting out from a more serious reason. Professionals need to step up and absolutely get children the help they need. ❤️

Elementary school teacher here - we don’t send kids home for throwing up anymore either. Unless they have a fever or they violently vomit three or more times they stay in class. It’s absurd.

here they make them throw up 3 times before they will even call home. I asked in the meeting that after 2 times most ppl don't have anything in their stomach to vomit. so basically we don't call or send them home? they said only after 3 times will the nurse call. I have now begun to notify parents myself.

They don’t send anyone home. Ever!! Live is considered a “lifestyle choice” in our district. Scabies? No problem! Active vomiting? It didn’t happen

I’m a teacher who was told to have a vomiting child sit with the garbage can next to them because they didn’t have a fever.
