The clavicular head of the chest will contribute in pure shoulder flexion. Especially when the arm is fully extended up until about shoulder height. However you are absolutely right in saying there is a need for that diagonal movement upwards when looking to train the upper chest the best because of the fiber orientation

Just cause it ‘looks like’ all the fibres are flexing it doesnt mean its targetting upper chest. Biomechanics say shoulder flexion

fibre orientation is not the best indicator of what a groups function is, while some studies show that a flexion and adduction combined( your case) is ideal, others show that shoulder flexion below 90 degrees works best and we know the clavicular pec is a good shoulder flexor since if we take a narrower grip on a shoulder press it also gets a considerable ammount of implication in the movement so hypotethically both the clavicular head and anterior delt are both shoulder flexors and adductors, with the chest being the primary muscle that executes the function when working below 90 degrees with it loosing levarage to the front delt the more over 90 you go so orientation is not that relevant

Fiber orientation is not the only determinant for activation. This is also one of the better cases proving the utilities of NMM. It rlly isn’t as simple as you think it is lol

hey mike, somebody told me that doing the PPL split i shouldn't have any front raises exercises for the shoulders cause the front of the shoulder already works a lot during the chest workout, is that true or should i still have a front raise exercise?

both have their origin at the cavicle and insertion at the humerus, you dont necessarily need to to adduction+flexion to work the upper chest
