I prefer spice as a garnish not a main course. When it comes to description, I do think it really depends. Like, there's a point when it distract too much from the plot. I DNF'ED the first LOTR book for that reason

ACOTAR is not smut. THAT you can say. That's true. You cannot say ACOTAR isn't spicy. Just because it's low spice (until book 5), doesn't mean it lacks spice.

My perfect ‘spicy’ romantasy series are ones like ACOTAR because of the yearning and the slow burn is sooo perfect that the build up TO the spice is what I love. I hate instant spice, build the world and relationships first 🥹

Agreed! There is a big difference between spice and smut. ACOTAR is spicy. ACOTAR is not smut. I’m also so tired of people trashing a book for plot holes and so on when it’s book one or two of a multi book series!! Pumpkin, you have to read the series!

Yessss!!! This!!! Thank you!! It’s absolutely fine to not like a book but why does everything have to come with so many complaints! And I’m so fed up with people saying things aren’t spicy when they are. I have nothing against spicy books. I’m just not always in the mood for them and want to be able to pick my next read accordingly.

there's spicy and then there's smut. 2 different categories. I have read some book with to much descriptive language. like every other sentence is descriptive and you loose the story. it can be irritating to be so consistently distracted from the story by them talking about the environment. or if its repetitive internal monolog. ive already read 300 pages I don't need you to tell me again 😂

YES! Like I'm sorry I don't like reading spice so I specifically speak out books that don't have them, but then people say "oh this book is not spicy" when in reality it is 🙏😭

Yes yes yes! We all need to know our own likes and dislikes. I LOVED ACOTAR, but I haven’t started TOG bc I’m not sure it’s for me. It doesn’t mean it’s a bad series. Obvi Sarah J Maas is an amazing writer, I don’t think I could follow the world building 🤷🏼♀️That’s a me problem, not a “bad book” problem
