@professor_paradox_tok: There is no such thing as healthy masculinity and femininity: a reflection on false binaries, disability, and global wartime politics
Trans man here, and the more years pass, the more I feel a lot of what you are touching internally there. I simply started to view myself and others as souls, despite our need to express our gender a certain way that feels authentic for us and that lead us for less depression! We are all humans 🫂✨

this is such a surface level part of this but genuinely imagining gaining engineering skills and enjoying it and then the men come back from war and they’re like okay go back to the kitchen. excuse me??

I rarely date non-queer people (not as a rule, just the way it shakes out), but I briefly had a thing with a kind of classic straight cis dude. He was a friend beforehand, it was just a casual thing. He was pretty emotionally intelligent, a therapist actually, very liberal etc. But he was so stuck on the idea of “positive” masculinity and finding “healthy ways” to “express masculinity”. And it was just…feeling good about how wrestling gave him confidence because he feels like he’s capable of protecting himself and others. And it absolutely infuriated me because EVERY PERSON ON THE PLANET equally wants the ability to defend themselves and their loved ones. That’s not some innate aspect of being male, that’s just a basic want of all humans, that most women simply don’t have the option of because we’re in a completely different weight class. I felt like a b**ch being upset about this, but it just completely turned me off him. I need someone who understands this, that even “healthy” masculinity is part of a deeply unhealthy cultural divide.

Im disabled with a very similar condition to you. You are so correct. As a disabled woman* you are treated differently because so much of how we are treated is dependent on our outward appearance, and when you “look wrong” you become undesirable and people become disgusted by you

do I not nurture with masculinity ? do I not protect with a feminine strength? It’s all so limiting when you put it like that
