extended warranty inspector here, most of the rejections I see are because the technician or shop doesn't want to demonstrate the failure correctly. they expect the warranty company to take the word for it, and that just won't drive

hello everyone :
After 40 years of my parents owning an auto repair shop, they can count on one hand when the extended warranty actually paid out but fought tooth and nail to pay the least… the majority of the time they end up just giving back the extended warranty amount $$ after they deny the very expensive repair 10 times

I bought a used car without an extended warranty the extended warranty at the level I wanted it would’ve been $3500. Anything that breaks in that car will cost less than $3500 that these all extended warranties would cover.

Just had one declined bc the contract wasn’t activated yet customer had to drive 1000 miles before it would activate injectors blew out 80 miles from activation. Gotta love it.

I never buy warranties.
Here's my theory:
If I buy one I definitely pay.
If I don't, I may pay, but may not.
So far I usually don't pay.

all the aftermarket warranty companies do this. my advisor always has to ask me to print out troubleshooting charts and asks for voltage or continuity test results because they actually ask for them. crazy

David Deckard :
It’s pretty simple, your technician should’ve performed a pressure test on the cooling system, and then noted if it was leaking from the gasket of the pump, or coming out where the impeller shaft is. Or in the case of an internal water pump, such as the 3.5 transverse Ford engines, noting that coolant is leaking from the weep hole in the block.

Bought a used Kia sportage with aftermarket warranty from the Kia dealership. 6 months later engine seized. Had it towed in thinking no problem $250 deductible and I get a new engine. Nope. Warranty company sent out and inspector and denied the claim because there was carbon buildup in the oil return tubes. Came into the dealership just in time to hear the service manager literally screaming on the phone at someone with the warranty company. The dealer refunded the cost of the warranty and cut me a really good deal on a new car to replace it and told me they were cutting all ties with that company.

no mechanical failure of the water pump power train won't cover the gasket unless the water pump actually fails pay attention to what y'all sign when you buy a car exclusionary coverage only

I had warranty deny a water pump repair because it was coming from the shaft thru the weep hole…and they said that’s the shaft seal & seals aren’t covered. But it is a non replaceable seal…it’s part of the pump. 🤦♀️
