@brookeroh: The built-in fridge we wanted was $13K. Ours cost $3,200 total. We wanted the built-in look for our midcentury California ranch home — but the IKEA Superkall was too small on its own, so we put two side by side. Same seamless look, fraction of the cost. Would you do this? 🥲💛 #ikeahack #mcmkitchen #ikeakitchenremodel #midcenturymodern #ikeacabinets @IKEA
I’ve tried to convince a client to do this, because you’re right, it saves big $$$$, but I couldn’t find any reliable reviews on that IKEA fridge. Did you feel comfortable with its reliability?

So every time we need to get something on the cupboard above it, you have to keep opening the fridge?

Why are people hating the upper cabinet, it’s a dead space anyway if it was just a fridge.

I personally would cut the top large doors into two sections and add an extra hinge and separate the fridge door from the upper cupboard. Easily done and apply some wood edge banding tape on the cut, you wouldn’t even know it’s cut.

It saves you $10,000 but it doesn’t save your fridge food when you keep opening the cupboard to grab the snack on top 👍🏻

Ughh love this except the upper cabinet part. 😩 It’s like they made a 98% perfect fridge but just were too tired to cut the front panel and add a handle. 😭😭😭 I saw a comment that said to use it for back stock drinks and that makes the most sense. Outside of this flaw, it rly is sooo chic.👌

I never understood why more people didn't do this when they have the space! Also this way you can keep cooked food in one fridge and raw in the other without smells mixing, like imagine baking a nice cake and it staying in the clean fridge while having fish or chicken marinating in the other. Also if something happens to one fridge you have a backup! The top part is perfect for backups of pantry items, like your extra flour, sugar, cans etc, that way you don't reach for the top part daily. I can see no flaws in this!
The thing is, for a European having just one of these is a standard, so this way you get 2x, funny thing is a lot of households have an even smaller fridge and that's the only one in the entire house. This is the perfect amount of fridge space, and just an amazing solution overall.

No creo que sea practico tener que abrir el refrigerador para usar la alacena de la parte de arriba, eso es lo único que cambiaría, super ingenioso.
