I read somewhere that Clark Gable was very protective of Hattie McDaniel.

Sailor Moon :
It is tragically beautiful. But if you think it should’ve been shorter, you were wrong please read the book. The book is 1 million times better than the movie and over 1000 pages if they were gonna cover everything in the movie it would’ve had to be a mini series. I probably read the book at least 10 times since I was a teenager.

Hattie McDaniel is also in Song of the South. She is an amazing actor. And I love the part with the red petticoat 😁

My favorite part in the movie is when Scarlet is at her lowest and Mammy tells her “ You been brave for so long, you just got to go on being brave.”

This movie changed the way all movies after it were shot. It’s so visually beautiful.

It’s fascinating & horrific how Margaret Mitchell obviously wished that world still existed…but I watch for the performances & even named my daughter Melanie - just fell in love with that beautiful name…

Fun fact. When Gone with the wind was released in 1939 it was closer in time to the actual civil war than we are now to the release of gone with the wind.

My dad had to read it in school. When GWTW would be coming on either my dad would call me or I would call him. And you need to watch Hattie McDaniel’s acceptance speech it was beautiful!!!

It's my favorite movie. I think it's about survival and a young woman growing up as her world changes around her. I first saw it almost 50 years ago, and at different ages I've seen the characters differently.

That’s a movie I need to rewatch. My mom made me watch it when I was 15 as a punishment. I needed to learn how to be a lady. Thank you for the reminder

Compared to the book it was concise! The book is fascinating and goes into crazy detail. The movie had to cut out a lot.

The Hayes Code knocked out much of the criticism of the antebellum South, that was in the book. No I don’t want say that the book was a critical examination of the antebellum and reconstruction south, it wasn’t. But it was also not all void of context in that area. Margaret Mitchell wrote beautifully. It would be something if someone would make a version true or to the book, warts and all. Maybe a 10 episode limited series.

I've always been a film fan and history fan. The behind the scenes/how this movie was made is fascinating. It really was an "indie" film during the big studio times. 1939 was a great year for movies. Besides the hype (movie based on a book EVERYONE read)., this movie was really something visually, cinematically no movie goers had ever seen. (Wizard of Oz came out the same year)

Its a great movie but you habe to take it as that - not a historic documentary. I always use the line, "Asking aint getting, Miss Scarlett."
