@rubymanobal.23: Lisa and Jennie had been best friends since they were five years old. They were the classic extrovert-introvert duo. Lisa was the sun: always surrounded by people, laughing, talking to everyone. Jennie was quieter, a girl of few words and even fewer friends. In fact, the only time people really saw her smile was when she was with Lisa. They had met at an ice rink when they were children, and ever since, skating had become their safe place. The place they went whenever the world became too loud. That night, they were at the town fair with their teammates. As always, Lisa was the center of attention while Jennie stayed by her side, watching more than participating. When dinner time came around, one of the girls called out to Lisa. “Are you coming to try the new tacos? Everyone says they’re amazing.” But Lisa shook her head. “I’ll pass. I promised Jennie we’d go get dumplings.” Jennie looked at her, surprised. “You could’ve gone with them.” Lisa rolled her eyes. “I know. But I wanted to be with you. Just you and me.” And Jennie smiled. Because that was what Lisa always did. She chose her. They walked to a small food stand and sat together. The silence between them was never awkward. It was the kind of silence that only exists when you’ve known someone your entire life. After a few minutes, Jennie spoke. “Doesn’t it bother you?” “What?” “Having to adapt to me. Not being able to do the same things you do with your other friends.” Lisa looked up. “Of course not.” Jennie frowned. “Why?” Lisa smiled. “Because you’re my favorite person.” Jennie froze. “The others know part of me. You know all of me. You know when I’m happy, when I’m pretending to be okay, when I need help without saying a single word.” She paused. “You’re honest, passionate, sensitive… and you cry over every animal video you see online.” Jennie laughed softly. “Lisa…” “No, listen. There are some people you just know you want in your life forever. And you’re one of them.” For the first time that night, Jennie didn’t know what to say. She simply smiled. Because sometimes the most important words are the ones you never expect to hear. Later, before heading back to the group, Lisa dragged her into a photo booth. “Come on, Jen. Just pose.” “I don’t know how.” “Then just follow my lead.” The first picture was a shy smile. The second was a shared glance. The third was pure laughter. And the last one was simply them being themselves. Two best friends. A sun and a moon. So different that nobody could understand how they worked so well together. But that was exactly why they did. Because while everyone saw Lisa lighting up the world, Jennie was the one who knew every one of her shadows. And while Jennie hid who she truly was from everyone else, Lisa always found a way to remind her that she had nothing to hide. In the end, they weren’t the same. They were exactly what the other needed. And at that moment, both of them were convinced that what they had was friendship. Because what else could it be? Best friends chose each other over and over again. They shared comfortable silences, childhood memories, and ridiculous photo booth pictures. They knew each other’s fears, insecurities, impossible dreams, and the versions of themselves that nobody else was allowed to see. That’s what they had. Wasn’t it?
—¿No te molesta?

➡️As they walked back toward the group, Lisa held one of the photos between her fingers. She looked at it for only a second before smiling to herself.
There was something about the way Jennie was looking at her in that picture.
Something that made it feel different from all the others.
Meanwhile, Jennie walked beside her, listening to Lisa talk about whatever crossed her mind, and felt that strange feeling that always appeared whenever someone demanded too much of Lisa’s attention.
It wasn’t jealousy.
Or at least, that’s what she told herself.
After all, Lisa was her best friend.
Just her best friend.
Neither of them knew that some love stories begin exactly like this.
Disguised as friendship.
Hidden inside innocent promises of “stay with me forever,” late-night conversations that never seemed to end, and the certainty that if the entire world disappeared, the other would still be there.
Neither of them understood it yet.
But that night, beneath the fair lights and the distant glow of the moon, something changed.
Not enough for them to notice.
But enough that years later, they would both look back on that night and think the exact same thing:
Maybe that was where it all began.
