@melissajbyrnex: Hindsight will show you exactly what you always knew, but tried to silence. You silence it because you don’t want to believe it. You silence it because it’s easier than trying to unravel the reason why. Because, surely not. Surely it’s now how you think it is because why on earth would that be a choice someone else makes. May has brought a lot. Some high. A massive blow. But above all else, my eyes have never been open. & I’ve never been more sure of who I am in my whole life. Yet again, amongst the chaos & hardship, I have been met with the same hands to hold. Some I’ve held for over a decade. Some for just about a year. But each & every one has reminded me that yes, I deserve happiness. I deserve love. And more importantly, that being me is more than enough. I will always be Mel. But now, I’m the Mel who will never ever let anyone shrink me down just so they can build themselves higher. I will no longer allow anyone to question my morals, my truth and my whole being so it’s fits a narrative they’ve quietly placed on me for years, leaving me completely dumbfounded. A narrative that has ruled over a relationship for years, without me even knowing I’m so tired of lying dormant to please others. To make them more comfortable. I didn’t even realise that is what I was doing until I stopped & the tone completely shifted. Never mistake my kindness for weakness. Because as soon as the kindness is no longer directed at you, I’ll become stronger everytime. I’ll be damned if I ever allow anyone to take advantage of my heart again. 🫶🏼
