@ladyspinedoc: Replying to @Leann Case Study 232 | Glioblastoma (GBM) GBM is the most common malignant primary brain tumor in adults and unfortunately, one of the most aggressive. These tumors arise from glial cells within the brain and are known for growing rapidly, invading surrounding brain tissue, and developing their own blood supply. Unlike many other tumors, glioblastomas don't have clear borders, making them difficult to completely remove with surgery alone. Symptoms depend on where the tumor is located but often include:
- Persistent or worsening headaches
- Seizures
- Weakness or numbness
- Speech difficulties
- Memory problems or confusion - Personality or behavioral changes Diagnosis typically involves MRI imaging followed by surgical biopsy or resection to confirm the pathology. Treatment usually includes:
• Maximal safe surgical removal
• Radiation therapy
• Chemotherapy (most commonly temozolomide)
• In selected patients, tumor treating fields One of the most challenging aspects of glioblastoma is that its earliest symptoms can be subtle and easily mistaken for stress, aging, sleep deprivation, migraines, or hormonal changes. While outcomes have improved over the years, GBM remains a devastating diagnosis and an area of intense ongoing research. Every advancement in treatment brings us one step closer to better options for patients and families facing this disease. #Glioblastoma #GBM #Sundaycasestudy #Neurosurgery #Ladyspinedoc

Thanks for sharing. I’m helping a 60 yo female family member who also has GBM in the left temporal lobe. She keeps stating that the doctors “got it all” and she’s only taking oral chemo pills to be safe.

My mom passed from this tumor. She lived 3 1/2 yrs from diagnosis and passed at age 73. The deterioration is a hard process. She had one surgery one round chemo only and just did radiation. I think not doing chemo gave her more time. God Bless anyone who has been touched by this horrible cancer 😢💔
