@forever.michael.jackson: While the 1992 miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream painted Joe Jackson as a strict, controversial villain, Tito and Jackie Jackson always pushed back on that narrative. In this clip, the brothers weigh in on how Hollywood got their father wrong. Sure, his discipline was old-school, but Tito and Jackie always credited his vision, sacrifices, and tough love for keeping them off the streets of Gary, Indiana, and launching them into superstardom. For them, he wasn’t just a harsh manager. He was a father who did whatever it took to build a family empire. 🕊️✨#TheJacksons #JoeJackson #AnAmerican Dream #Jackson5 #MusicHistory

It’s true Michael loves Joe and called him a genius in the behind the scenes with Martin Bashir but he didn’t show it on the documentary

I have so much respect for these two amazing men. They are telling the truth of their father and childhood. People want to paint Joe as a monster but this is the reality of a man who grew up in a hard society and wanted his sons to have more than he did and show how truly talented they all were. The Jacksons are a American Dream ♥️

Unpopular opinion, I can’t remember any guitar solo by Tito on any song

Maybe he wasn’t like that to you all but Michael seemed to get it worse. Di his perspective is different. He probably gad to practice, sing, and go more for special appearances. So he had less time than they did to be a kid.

I wonder if Joe seemed to be EXTRA strict and perceived to be ABUSIVE once he discovered not only did the first 3 boys have talent (after Tito broke the guitar string) and realized they could go far. He worked 2 jobs. So once he begin cultivating Jackie, Jermaine & Tito and heard Michael sing. I'm wondering if he was trying to keep Michael in line because he was so YOUNG. Being that young with an ENORMOUS talent, if Joe let up off of him he may have slipped through the cracks. That's why he didn't have a normal childhood. The other boys were older and rehearsing with Joe before Mike & Marlon were added to the group. Plus there's the age gap! Jackie chose to leave BASEBALL to sing with his brothers so apparently he also knew that something was there. They were older Mike and Marlon wanted in the group for fun but it turned out he was the final piece of the puzzle.
