@aarondinin: The lesson I’m about to teach my newest cohort of Duke In Silicn Valley students… bad presenters use their slide decks like a script, meaning they click to the next slide and then talk about what’s on it. But great presenters use their slides to emphasize important information *after* they’ve already said it, which is much harder, but much more impactful. #college #presentation #presentationskills #professor #presentationtips
As a former Training Developer in HR, I’d say, 98% of presentations are “death by PowerPoint.” All your points are valid.

Well this is correct but incorrect at the same time. The information that you say, should never be on the slide. You should have the main points highlighted in a graphical ways.

Also, don't just say what's on the slides. The slides should be bullet points to help your audience follow along with your presentation, but the information should come from you mostly.

I teach public speaking and presentation skills for MBAs at a top university and I cannot tell you how many times I need to repeat this exact message. Introduce your slides folks!

Full time lecturer here. I practice this method also because I know my students will start writing what's on the slides and not listen to what I'm saying in regards to the information on the slides.

You can also use animations to fade in the point you’re talking about on the slide, so they don’t see all the bullet points right away.

Sometimes you have access to a slide screen that shows both the current and next slides. That’s helpful.

Another trick to effectivise your presentation is to utilize animations. Making certain relevant images appear to reinforce the points youre making as you dive into them.

The last 3 times I presented to our CISO, I had a single slide in a series with 2-3 other presenters. I’m assuming you have the audience anchor in a transition slide before presenting actual content. Curious, what do you recommend in this situation?
