I have ptsd/cptsd, and I have never had a flashback. I get triggered and that makes me remember traumatic incidents, but I have never had a flashback where I felt like I was back in that moment

Because if they show the "bad" side/what it actually looks like then people will find it "creepy" or "weird" and not want to root for the character. That's how people see it when they write shows/movies. They believe if you show the "bad" side, people won't want to root for the good characters.. :/

I have C-PTSD, I hear loud noises and I jump so high, start sweating instantly, I get teary eyed, fawn responses, and the biggest thing for me is having control issues, not having control over a situation will make me panic.

This is such a weird thing to ask but do you have, like, examples? Does what you do when you experience it depend on you the person, is there a set variety of things you could do, does it depend on your trauma? Like I do honestly wanna improve my writing

It's getting triggered over the most random things, nightmares, panic attacks, getting startled easily, being hypervigilant, emotional outbursts, avoiding certain things so you don't get triggered, bad sleep habits, and a whole lot more. It's different for everyone and it is so much more than flashbacks.

Sometimes you don’t even know you’re triggered!! I’ll go through my day feeling increasingly more anxious and get this impending sense of doom, irritable but not over the top until it clicks that something triggered my fight or flight. It’s not always intense episodes it’s an inability to function normally

This was the reason why I didn’t realize I was actually having flashbacks. Flashbacks are so poorly represented in media, that my impression of them was that I needed to have full blown visual ones in order for them to be considered a flashback, not that emotional and physical ones also existed. This video is such a breath of fresh air! 😭💕
