Arkansas (specifically Little Rock) has a crazy good alt music scene. Talking dozens of bands/several shows a week in a metro area of <750k. Hell, my town of 20k has like 7 active punk/metal/core bands and who knows how many of other genres. If you put in the effort to find it, you can find “culture” stuff anywhere.

I hate the politics of this state, but Florida cities has a ton of vibrant mid-sized cities. Jax, Tally, Pensacola, Gainesville, Orlando, DeLand, Tampa/St. Pete, Sarasota, etc are all dope

You guys are sleeping on Houston honestly. It has an amazing culinary scene, the music scene is diverse, the arts scene is underrated and people overlook how educated that city is. I know it’s in Texas but it really is an amazing city.

I think southerners are so creative because we grew up bored. We didn't even have a Target in my town until I was like 12. My siblings and cousins and I used to write plays and do improv to pass the time.
