@profgraves: Summer classes move quick, so you can’t wait until test week to find out what you remember. Stop relying on passive review and start using active recall. Pull the information from memory without your notes. Don’t just look over the material. Practice explaining it. And one of the easiest ways to do this is flashcards. But don’t just flip and recognize answers. Use them like cue cards. Ask why, what, and how. Make yourself answer before flipping, even if you’re struggling. Separate what you get right and wrong, and keep repeating the ones you miss. Then space it out: review one day later, then three days, then seven. In a summer class, consistency matters even more. A little active recall each day can help you keep up, remember more, and feel more confident when it’s time for the exam. #StudyTips #summercourses #activerecall #flashcards

Learn to understand not memorizing, it’s what helped me… if you understand the material you can answer the questions correctly every time. As a now professor it’s what I teach my students

Also a good tip my A&P professor taught the class was, study for 20-30 minutes DAILY not hours over weeks or cram studying …. If you review daily the information will stay stored in your long term memory. I literally received an A on every exam because of that.

What really helped me during my masters program was teaching my wife and kids about the subject matter in great detail. Even the little ones that don’t speak, haha. She’s gotta know how accounting in global business works thoroughly.

As a veteran teacher and mom to successful college students, YES!!! EXCELLENT TIPS! Handwriting alone activates learning, so WRITE your notes and flash cards. Add color for another layer to aid memory strength. If your notes need work, consider “Cornell notes.” The old ways WORK.🌟

People need to learn their learning pattern. I had to realize I can’t learn by theory first. I learn through: Real-world experience → Definition → Theory Once I started learning that way, everything my professor was teaching finally clicked.

I just passed a huge exam, in studying, the most helpful thing was to teach what I was learning to my co-worker who was also preparing to take the same exam.

Stories & Scenarios are pivotal and key! If you can tell a story or give a scenario of what you’re learning you can likely remember it. Our brains love a good story or scenario!
