When I went last week, the triage nurse was not very nice to me. But thankfully, the PA that I had really listened and heard me and realized that the pain I was in was due to structural injuries that they could confirm through diagnostic testing and I was so grateful to be heard. People that are in pain should not have to fight to be heard.

I’ve gone to the ER for severe pain before crying in so much pain and was told the ER isn’t not for severe chronic pain and they gave me haldol it did nothing for my pain then they discharged me

I absolutely refuse to go to er for pain unless there's just no other choice. Im in a rural area and the drs in the er have literally drug tested me before even treating me for documented complex migraine syndrome!

They literally wrote drug seeking on my file. Where I live that file goes to every specialist and dr I see. And I get treated accordingly 😭

you can ask for the physician....they dont have to come back....ive been told by nurses "the doctors has done all he is willing to do so you can leave or be removed"

Even though my chart clearly shows that I have allergies to several narcotic pain meds, I was still treated like I was drug seeking when I went to the ER for my back. What exactly was I supposed to be seeking?

it's so unfair as a female on hospice, especially when hospice sends me there as well. thank you for this I totally got asking for an attending or PT advocate it's been so long. unmasking from pain is so painful thank you for this

my best tip is I take my husband who does all this for me. he really knows me. he knows my values. he knows when I cannot speak for myself (pain plus autism is a extra tricky combination for me). he advocates so strongly (but not aggressively). he has saved my experience so many times in medical settings. I know not every has someone like this but if you do prep your person for the scenario so they know why you likely need etc in those moments.

And now because I mask my pain to avoid all of that I get accused of “lying” “you don’t look sick” that’s because I’ve been living with it for year and unfortunately that means I’ve gotten used to my baseline but the flares get worse and worse

Thank god I got a good hospital where I go to and they understand the pain I’m in , when I run out of medication because I always forget to call to refill in Time I just go to the er near me and they give me pain medicine with no issues and send me home pain free in no time.
