If someone starts a convo off already sounding dry/ annoyed I just say “let’s chat when you’re feeling better”. There’s no use forcing a convo if someone doesn’t want to talk. It’s not your job to be a therapist or mommy.

I think some of y’all are taking the example too literally. Nobody is saying everyone has to love morning phone calls. The conversation is about how someone responds when their partner tries to connect with them, not the specific time of day.

I dated someone who would grey rock me if I called him, but was 10/10 vibes when he called me, and then was upset I never took the initiative to call him. We were long distance it was a genuine nightmare

I think people are misunderstanding, OP says this PATTERN is emotional abuse. Meaning if you consistently behave this way with people to the point where it’s a pattern instead of effective communication and conflict resolution, this is emotionally abusive.
