this scene is so important because not only is it a deep reflection of clarks character, but it’s also a meta reflection on how lonely people desired to disappear and took solitude in the backrooms lonliness because of that, it’s a reflection on why our generation love the backrooms so much. What a brilliant movie bro.

when he is tearing up and says he doesn't think he wants to change, and he believes he's right where he belongs. I feel a lot of fear coming from it. I feel like he doesn't believe what he's saying... but he's just trying to accept that it's better this way for himself & others. that it's better to be in the backrooms alone. idk why it's hitting me super hard now 😔.. This movie is Amazing.

I haven't seen anyone yet realize that Clark wanted to keep entering the Backrooms because he wanted to be an architect and the impossible and endless nature of its design was probably like a dream come true for him and when realizing he had any part in its design it was almost as if he became the architect that he always wanted to be.

I think Clark and Mary are perfectly juxtaposed - Clark feels safe in the backrooms because it tells him he’s fine the way he is so he stays and Mary decided to work through her trauma and thus was able to escape. To navigate the backrooms you must navigate your psyche.

Part of me feels like he did want to change but deep down he was so tired and so far gone along the path of seemingly endless despair that he found a sense of comfort in it, a comfort in the endless quiet of space that gives solace without the need for purpose or even meaning. a bottomless abyss to finally give companionship to the mirror that is one’s own soul. his prison became his pasture and he would never want to return to the freedom/change that comes hand and hand with growth/pain.

No one put up a missing poster for Clark because he had no on in his life who missed him. However the Backrooms remembered him

to the people in the comments saying they relate to clark, take this as a wake up call. you HAVE to change, or you’ll end up like he did

Him rejecting what it is to be human when he said it must be so nice to feel nothing like the entities, like furniture, was such a good moment
