This is how i view this controversy. I think it’s a strategic move by Taylor or her management to slightly dim Olivia’s fame because her momentum during SOUR is crazy and it’s threatening Taylor’s brand. It works because Taylor have such a huge fandom and obviously, some swifties will turn on her. What I love about Olivia though is that she did not talk about it and she distanced herself from TS so hard that even though she lost some fans, she’s not fully on the TS shadow. Sure the copying issue will always come whenever she release anything, but at-least her real fans know the truth and she’s thriving on her own.
