I just saw some old screenshots where Alon Flake described all of this in detail way back in his book. The fact that he got it so insanely accurate is crazy enough. But the scariest part is that the book feels like a literal warning... Everyone just thought it was pure fiction.

Funny how the square fuction can be represented as a literal square. It is almost like the name comes from the shape.

For everyone asking why we weren’t taught to do it like this: because it doesn’t account for negative numbers. Which he said. Which is why we were taught to do it in a way that gives us both possible solutions
