I entered into a contract, which includes a notice period, which both sides need to adhere to, so unless I feel the company hasn’t held up their end on other factors, I’m honouring my side. It’s about my integrity.

My place won't give me a reference until I give them my notice. They have also added in that I have to give 4 weeks notice for a job I've been in 6mths. If I don't adhere to this there will be penalties 🤷🏽♀️

It’s called integrity, you’d be up in arms if a company let you go with no notice or redundancy. There’s also a little thing called your employment contract

I worked my notice so I’d get paid that month, and get my voluntary redundancy payment, plus my bonus. If I didn’t I’d have got nothing. It was easy.

Is about your colleagues as well, not fair to just disappear, also it’s not just about the managers is about the rest of the people who you can meet later in life in a new company and they might have a few things to say about you — off record off course

I left straight away, and they still had to pay what I had worked.

You could be liable for any costs incurred as a result of breach of contract such as you may have to pay costs for freelancers etc for your notice period

Mmmm in principle yes, however the employer can take you to court for costs if you don’t work your notice and it’s in your contract. In my last job I had to get agency in and authorise over time to fill gaps. I was asked to pass all the invoices to HR who billed that individual for those costs. Check your contract before doing anything that may cost you
