I used to live in Australia and also had similar thoughts as you but since I moved to America I realized that they mostly use the soft long rectangle sprinkles where as hundreds and thousands are crunchy

I’m a dual citizen. Sprinkles are a thing in the USA - our equivalent is funfetti cake, which every kid had one at some point. People are desperate for joy in the USA right now and what’s more joyful than nostalgic sprinkles
