I saw a video on here talking about the issue and while I agreed somewhat with some of her talking points (mainly just women have more experience) but SO many of the comments were just referring to Niles with he/him pronouns and just brushing them off as a cis man. It really leaves a bad taste in your mouth

I was explaining my experiences with gender dysphoria as a trans guy to a terf, and she very quickly pivoted from seeing me as a “poor innocent girl who was the victim of CSA” to “you disgusting trans identified male making a mockery of women’s trauma because no real woman feels that way”. Mind you, I didn’t even mention trauma. She decided on her own that my experiences could have only come from that happening as a child, and then decided that actually it’s too extreme and I’m purposely mocking child victims. 😭

It's wild seeing these people who downplay what male privilege actually is just so they can include trans men in it. It's like they forgot the distinction between systemic and interpersonal discrimination. It's not just "male name on a job application" it's the *entire system* being built to cis men's advantage. I know trans men who can't even get passports or bank accounts in their country, what privilege is that??? Not to mention things like medical discrimination, which never goes away no matter how well you pass. Hell, transitioning doesn't change that my parents raised me to be a third parent/live-in maid to my brothers. My brothers will always have that extra step ahead of me because of how we were raised. But oh, they sometimes call me he now, I'm so privileged! /s

lowkey even if it is just a cis man, its not productive to reduce them to that identity and no longer engage in the conversation. It ends up turning into bullying rather than intellectual conversations, like focus on the words being typed not the person attached to them.

I got told I was mansplaining asexuality to someone, I’m a trans woman, and prior this person actually referred to me as she/her but as soon as I did something she didn’t like she made my identity conditional and erased it to misgender me.

it’s because TERF ideology is actually an alt-right ideology. it’s not grounded in foundational feminism, theory, and not even statistics a lot of the time. most of these women don’t even READ about feminism. it’s also why so many of them behave the exact same way as incels and why so many of them are very quick to align themselves with neo-Nazis.

really unfortunate how many of the comments here are just swinging around to defend themselves with progressive bioessentialism and playing into the transmisogyny of the discourse instead of actually challenging it. you should not need to bring up whether you were afab or not, you should not be acting like you have to convince people you don’t have male privilege or your opinions on gender dont matter, you shouldn’t have to play along with the idea that being “male” means you’re unable to think about misogyny, something people really mainly use to hurt people they think are trans women, your current hormones and whether you currently have a vagina or not doesnt have an inherent impact on your beliefs and what ones youre allowed to hold. you are allowed to study and engage in feminism regardless of what kind of body you have and there is no kind of body that gives you more or less of an understanding than anyone else
