@ashton_valkere: As we walked down to the beach today to see if the turtles had hatched I realized something… Sometimes we’re so obsessed with the future that we forget to look around. We become so focused on the next goal. The next income milestone. The next rental. The next house. The next version of ourselves. That we completely miss the fact that we are already standing inside prayers we used to beg for. At some point you prayed for the relationship you have now. You prayed for the business. You prayed for the family dinners. You prayed for the opportunity. You prayed for the freedom you currently call “normal.” And maybe that’s the problem with ambition. Ambition is beautiful because it pulls us forward. But if we’re not careful, it also steals the ability to appreciate where we are. Because the truth is: The version of you from five years ago would probably look at your life today and think: “Holy shit… we actually did it.” Not all of it. Maybe not yet. But enough of it. So keep chasing bigger goals. Keep building. Keep growing. Just don’t forget to occasionally stop and realize: You are already living inside someone else’s dream. Your old dream.
