I don't think apps should be able to know what option we chose, android should still report a different location as the current one if approximate is picked

its good enough for the browser. Browser has only approx. => any site can only get approx. which is enough to determine my city for delivery and stuff. The only app that ever asked me to give precise location is maps but that's kinda obvious

Idk what apps are you using. It works for me except for maping software, but then these apps have to see your location to uhh… work.

I wish Google and associated companies came up with a better way to describe the feature, it's really asking you if you want to use GPS or not. Approximate location really means the location of your current IP address, exact location really means, well your exact location.

that is why I like the option inside of microG to make a approximate location as if it was a accurate one (works best on devices with no gps as on a device with gps it would give a fine location sone times because of how location services work to then go to the coarse one)
