first thing is knowing why you are in need of renewing your mind. it's more than sin. Adam was created in the image and likeness of God, a living soul. when he ate he truly died, to everything of God, not just spiritual, but every essence of Him. Adam's soul was darkened. see day one above in Genesis. look at Cain and Able. God accepts Abels offering, but not Cains, Cain was very wroth and his countenance fell, but God says you can do well and be accepted, if not sin lies at the door and you shall be his desire, but you shall rule over him. who is him?... there we see good and evil. we are made in the image and likeness of fallen man, our soul darkened by knowing evil. the battle we live naturally. we don't all murder, you know, we have some good in us, but by that darkened soul our thinking is warped. there we need the renewing of our mind, to shine light unto our dark soul. we didn't have to go to school to learn how to be selfish, angry, hateful to need to be accepted, loved ect. ect. it's who we are, not just sinners, the whole package. God is light, Jesus, the light of the world, we are children of light. the light over powers that darkness, until we understand this we'll always fall back on our own way of thinking. it's the serpents way of thinking. the last Adam came to redeem us back in the image and likeness of God...
