🙏 Lesbians were also able to donate more blood to our queer siblings needing transfusions because of the screening process/questions for donors at the time. 🫶🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

I always relate a little to my older gays because I lost my (gay) grandfather to aids in 2017.

I’m 50. In the 90’s I was in my late teens and early 20’s during the crisis. I volunteered at a hospice exclusively designed for AIDS patients. Most of what I did all day was touch. Hold hands, hug, wipe tears… be present for the final days and moments of these beautiful, kind, funny, souls. I’m not a Goldstar Lesbian, I’m just a bi woman. But dedication to being a warm heart during that epic level of loneliness when many people were DESERTED by their families and friends, ran deep. I love you all and I’m so happy to see a different way emerging for the LGBTQ+ community. 🥹
