@yaamini22: Do you know why Hindu Gods are shown with many wives? Vishnu with Sridevi, Bhudevi, and Nila Devi. Shiva with Sati, Parvati, Kali, Durga, Uma, and Gauri. Krishna with 16,000 women. At first, it sounds confusing. But the deeper answer is not about marriage the way we understand it today. It is about Shakti. In Hindu thought, the Goddess is not separate from God. She is his power, his energy, his action, his very ability to function. Sridevi, Bhudevi, and Nila Devi are three aspects of Vishnu’s Shakti. Parvati, Kali, Durga, Uma, and Gauri are different forms of the same Goddess. And Krishna marrying 16,000 women was not romance. It was protection, dignity, and social rescue after they were freed from Narakasura. So the real question is not why Hindu Gods had many wives. The real answer is this: One divine power appears in many forms. Share this with someone who has misunderstood this part of Hinduism.
