@edenroseproject: It is easy to give opinions when you are not in this exact situation. It is easy to say, ‘I simply wouldn’t have gone’ and it is easy to offer advice about the 100 things you would have done differently to make way for your child to attend. Sometimes you want to grace a special occasion for both birthday boy, his mum and their family and celebrate with them while also honouring where your child is now and sparing them, myself and the party folk from any additional stress. Those 2 things can be true at the same time. If I could have taken her, trust me, I would have but I made that judgement call and I know I did the right thing. It didn’t stop it from stinging though. Seeing other autistic children enjoying a space I know she would have enjoyed if things were a little different right now… made me sad. Desperately sad. It also felt unfair… BUT…I was reminded that it won’t be like this forever and that this too shall pass and one day soon, she will have her opportunity to enjoy like everyone else. #autism #autismawareness #epilepsyawareness #empathymatters
