This is only one side of the story my grandfather told me the story people that he knew, that the government back then knew a lot of black people could not read back then because they left school when they were age 10, 11 to go out and work to help their parents and they knew that they liked to drink so they give them liquor got them drunk and then had them sign over their houses, they didn’t realize what they were doing, but this is the type of things that took place back then

Might be the young man in me talking but i am genuinely surprised the old slave houses still stand and were never burnt to the ground got descendants of people that were beat and defiled in those houses fixing them up. AND THEN THEY USE THEM AS TOURIST ATTRACTIONS how tf did the older generations let ts slide

You might as well do the history of the black Bermudian families & Crystal Caves area. Much of Hamilton Parish, where my family own land and lived since after slavery ended. there were many stories like this throughout the island. Blacks have fought for many yrs. but their voices were silenced. These stories are long over due, to be told once again!

I remember going there in 1993, I was invited to the beach not knowing any history of tuckers town, there was a really nice beach just below Ros Perots house which was on the market for30 million then, only after speaking to friends in Smiths Parish i was told the story of how people were cheated so badly, I refused to go to that beach ever again and was shocked my friend had taken me there knowing how I felt about injustice.

I believe there should be reparations for this a tax should be levied on those who now own this tax should cover the reparations, and the base land be returned to the former owners especially since the land has been returned to the government.
