@clarinotes: The first 28 measures of Rose etude 23 are being asked as the technical ATSSB All-State clarinet etude for this coming year. You can find it on page 25 of the Artistic Studies Book 1: From the French School edited by David Hite. You’ll want to aim for 60-72 =-12 dotted quarter note as a final tempo. You can certainly play it faster if you wish but make sure it captures the allegro vivace without feeling frantic. Keep the articulation rather light all the way through and make sure to observe where the slur two versus the slur three patterns. Chances are, you’ll want to spend some time slowly practicing the patterns at measures 17 through 21. Watch for accidentals that carry through (particularly those Dbs) 🎶 Have fun and happy practicing! #clarinet #wearebuffet #musicianlife #musiceducation #clarinetist
