Everything sounds good so far, but a big thing people overlook is getting their medical done early in the process. It can take a while and is where I saw the most people get hung up on going solo. Before jumping into ground school reading I would study for PSTAR. There’s an online 20 page study packet, and iOS apps to help you practice for the test. It’s a multi-choice test you need to do to get student pilot permit (required to solo) but also basically a crash course in the most important ground school stuff. That and get your medical.

Was about $18k when all said and done for me back in 2014ish for a PPL. Done out of CYNJ. But I love that you are doing this!!

Got my ppl last week in Ontario. Definitely get your medical done for ppl you will need a cat 3 id also recommend getting the written test out of the way as soon as ground school is done so the law and meteorology information is still fresh in your mind. Once those are out of the way you can focus on flying and it makes it much easier

Another pro tip. Save up for all the costs first. Many people stop because they run out of money 1/2 way through the process. It’s also better for your learning experience to not take frequent gaps, or else you forget it.
